The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s Office of the Great Lakes released this report on November 28, 2011 which assesses Michigan’s progress in meeting its obligations under the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact.

In December 2010, Michigan adopted water conservation and efficiency goals and objectives consistent with the basin-wide goals and objectives. These goals and objectives were developed by the Water Resources Conservation Advisory Council, a 21-member stakeholder group of executive and legislative appointees.

The MDEQ is the lead agency responsible for Michigan’s water conservation and efficiency program. The Director of the Office of the Great Lakes is the lead contact.
